Archiving Policy: PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

The PASR Journal is committed to the long-term preservation of its published content. To ensure the continued accessibility and integrity of our articles, we utilize the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a digital preservation service provided by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP).

What is PKP PN?

The PKP Preservation Network is an initiative that offers free archiving for journals using Open Journal Systems (OJS). It ensures that scholarly content remains accessible even in the event of a system failure, discontinuation, or data loss. PKP PN works by automatically depositing journal content into a network of LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) nodes, which continuously check and repair content as needed.

How We Use the PKP PN Plugin

Our journal has enabled the PKP PN Plugin through the OJS settings, allowing seamless participation in this preservation network. The process includes:

  1. Automatic Content Deposit – Published articles are systematically added to PKP PN without requiring manual intervention.

  2. Verification and Integrity Checks – The LOCKSS system ensures that stored copies remain identical and uncompromised over time.

  3. Retrieval in Case of Loss – If the original content becomes unavailable, PKP PN provides a reliable means of restoration.

Why Archiving Matters

By participating in PKP PN, PASR Journal ensures that:

  • Research articles remain accessible indefinitely.

  • The scholarly community benefits from a secure and decentralized preservation system.

  • Authors and readers can trust that published works will be safeguarded against unforeseen technical issues.
